Piyush Goyal wrote a letter of appreciation to Railway employees

Saluting the duty loyalties of railway employees during the Covid period, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has written a sentimental letter to the railway family. He recalled the role of everyone in bringing the economy of the country back on track. Expressing grief over the loss of loved ones in the disaster of Covid-19 during the last year-long difficult journey of the ministry, Goyal said that we cannot forget them. During this time, due to the patience, dedication and determination of the employees and officers, the Railways have made the country proud in conquering this pandemic.

Salute to the rail family who showed patience and courage in difficult times

Referring to the remarkable demonstrations during the 2020-21 pandemic, the Railway Minister, in his letter, recounting the disaster period said that when the whole world had come to a standstill, the railway employees risked their lives without taking a leave. As result, the economy of India got a boost. Railways have been instrumental in ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential commodities in the country, delivering coal to powerhouses, fertilizers for farmers or supplying food grains to the remotest areas of the country for consumers. 

More than 63 lakh stranded people were taken to their homes

“The country will always remember the contribution of the railways in the mass fight against Covid. It was because of your strong will that we managed to turn this crisis into an opportunity,” said Goyal. And further, he said that more than 63 lakh stranded civilians were transported to their destinations through 4,621 labourers special trains. Despite many restrictions at the time of the lockdown, 370 major works related to security and infrastructure were completed. For the first time in the country, the ‘Kisan Rail’ service became the link to connect our providers with the big markets. It was made possible only by the service of railway employees and touched the hearts of the people. 

Railway Ministry is taking many steps including increasing the speed of trains, passenger safety

He said that the Railway Ministry is taking several steps for improving the speed of trains as well as for operational efficiency. The average speed of goods trains has gone up to 44 kmph, while passenger trains have started arriving on time. The passenger death rate has been zero in the last two years. Thanking the railway family, Goyal said that with this team, we will continuously break the record and achieve the goal. Their performance will set an example for others and contribute to the development of the Indian economy.
