Pakistani diplomat Maleeha Lodhi brought up Kashmir at the UN, in reply to Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s statement a day earlier. The statement was about its neighbour being “the greatest exporter of disaster, death and cruelty“.
Swaraj, in her discussion at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly on Saturday, supposed PM Narendra Modi had extended a friendly hand to Pakistan, but they did not share this. She supposed that as India engages in struggling poverty, Pakistan “seems only busy in fighting us”.
On Saturday, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Maleeha Lodhi alleged that “Much of what is in the air in India at present is a pure terror, in Kashmir, in other places.”
Probing into Indian politics, Maleeha Lodhi also rented the standard lines of a section of Indian secularists. It portrays PM Narendra Modi and his management as “fascist” and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath as a “fanatic”.
Generally, a junior or mid-level envoy delivers the replies.
