Maharashtra Government likely to expand by December 23

NCP Spokesperson Nawab Malik, on Tuesday night, declared that the expansion of the newly formed cabinet for the state of Maharashtra and the allocation of portfolios is most likely to happen on the 23rd of December.

NCP Chief Sharad Pawar held a meeting of the legislators of the party on the very same evening in Nagpur where the winter state legislature is in session.

At the very same meeting, Sharad Pawar mentioned that a meeting was to be scheduled with newly elected CM Uddhav Thackeray and that the the Cabinet expansion would be underway within two days after the end of the session on December 21st. And the ministers would also be allowed their portfolios so they could start their work.

The Shiv Sena led Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Government comprises the NCP and the congress as well.

In accordance with the sharing of the portfolio and the arrangements as decided by the Shiv Sena and its allies, the Sena was given home, urban development, forest, environment, agriculture, industries and higher and technical education, and parliamentary affairs departments as on December 12, shortly after CM Uddhav Thackeray took his oath along with the six leaders of the Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP.

Finance, planning, housing, public health, irrigation, rural development and social justice departments were allocated to the NCP. On the other hand, Congress has been allocated revenue, energy, PWD, tribal welfare, women and child welfare, textile, relief and rehabilitation.

Some portfolios were rearranged and allowed to NCP ministers Jayant Patil and Chhagan Bhujbal as on December 14th.

Reports suggest that Senior NCP leaded Ajit Pawar is a keen contender in becoming the Deputy Chief Minister of the MVA government. The Senior Congress Leaders such as Ashok Chavan and Prithviraj Chavan were indirectly asked on Monday about who are hopeful to get berths.
