How to link Aadhar card with PAN card?

Aadhaar card number is an individual identification number, consists 12 digits issued by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). This card is provided by the Indian government to establish unique identities in citizens.

Final date for linking pan card with aadhar

The government of India has changed the deadline to link Aadhar card with PAN card. The previous deadline was announced on December 31, 2017. But, a few taxpayers have not yet completed the linking of PAN with Aadhaar. Therefore, now linking of aadhar with PAN has been extended to March 31, 2018, by The government. In the meantime, the taxpayer has offered with an online facility to enable their operation of linking  Aadhaar card with PAN card

How to link Aadhar card with PAN card?

There are two ways to link Aadhar card with PAN card.

Method 1:

Link your aadhar with PAN via an online process

  • Visit Income Tax Department website-www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
  • In the left side, select option ‘Link Aadhaar
  • Page redirects to an application form where you will have to fill out your details such as PAN, Aadhar Number (12 Digits), your Name
  • After entering you’re each detail enter ‘Captcha Code’ which is already given there
  • After that click on the ‘Link Aadhar’ button

The linking will be completed, If your details on Aadhar card like Name, gender, Date of birth matches with your PAN details.

If your gender and date of birth details match, but Name have been matched partially, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number with your Aadhaar. You can enter this OTP in the given field to confirm linking of aadhar with PAN

Method 2:

Link Aadhaar with PAN through SMS process

Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has been offered other facilities to link Aadhar card with PAN card. I.e you can also process through the help of your mobile anywhere and anytime. But the important thing is your mobile number must be updated in the Aadhaar first. You can follow the SMS procedure if you have already linked your mobile number with your aadhar.

  1. Type UIDPAN<12 digit Aadhar><space><10 digit PAN>
  2. Send it to 567678 or 56161 from your mobile number.

For example,

If your Aadhar number is 117524221125 and PAN are ADWQ9999B. Then you are required to send SMS to 567678 or 56161 as UIDPAN 117524221125 ADWQ9999B

There are no extra SMS charges by UTI and NSDL

Presently, taxpayers require a PAN card while filing income tax returns. Aadhaar Card details should also be provided while filing IT returns. Another benefit of Aadhaar and PAN card linking is that it will enable individuals to file their returns online, without any disturbance. This also implies that taxpayers no need to send acknowledgments to the IT sector.
