HAL and Ordnance factory board making Covid-19 hospitals, PSUs helping to overcome oxygen shortage in India

After the Armed Forces and DRDO, now the Defense PSUs of the country are also engaged in a war against Covid. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, from HAL to the Ordnance Factory Board, has started building Covid Hospitals in different parts of the country. At the same time, other defense PSUs are helping the state governments to overcome the shortage of oxygen in the country.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has started a 250-bed Covid Care Center in Bengaluru and a second 250-bed center under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was handed over to the Bengaluru Municipal Corporation is.

From LCA Tejas to Sukhoi fighter jets and ALH-Dhruv to Cheetah-Chetak helicopters, HAL has declared leave for a few days in its plants and divisions spread across the country and has started a war against Covid-19. According to the Ministry of Defense, HAL has prepared a 70-bed hospital in Koraput, Odisha, and a 40-bed hospital in Nashik, Maharashtra. In Lucknow too, HAL is preparing a covid care facility which will be ready in the first week of May.

In addition to HAL, the Ordinance Factory Board (OFB) has developed 25 covid care facilities in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Odisha, and Uttarakhand, which also have oxygen facilities. The OFB prepares for the country’s armies, from ammunition to tanks and cannons. According to the Ministry of Defense, OFB has engaged 60 percent of its workforce in Covid-Care. Apart from this, 813 beds out of a total of 1405 beds have been reserved for Kovid patients.

According to the Ministry of Defense, defense PSUs are also engaged in purchasing oxygen plants under the fast-track process so that these plants can be supplied oxygen to Covid’s patients in local hospitals under corporate social responsibility. These defense PSUs include BDL, BEML, HL, Midhani, GRSE, and Mazgaon Dockyard Limited (MDL).
