The deadly coronavirus cases peaked to an all-time high as 3,833 fresh cases came forward in a single-day as of Friday morning. It has been confirmed that 134 people died due to the virus in the last 24 hours across India.
Reports confirmed that as of 8AM on Friday morning, the total number of positive cases of the life-threatening virus stood at 78,003, out of which 26,255 have been cured and discharged while 2,559 died since the pandemic started.
India stands at 12th position, being one of the worst-hit countries in the pandemic, India has exceeded the number of cases in China.
The Data released by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare states that the active cases of the disease have reduced to 49,280. As of 9 pm, the total number of confirmed cases across the country reached 85,538.
Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar and Karnataka breached the 1,000-mark as the number of people having tested positive, while testing and containment measures were ramped up in places like, Kerala, Goa and Manipur that were being seen as being mostly virus-free till a few days back. A quarantine center was also sealed in Manipur.
On the other hand, large numbers of cases continued to get detected in urban areas. Maharashtra was confirmed to be the most-affected state as it reported 1,576 new cases. It’s tally has increased to 29,100, while its death toll rose to 1,068. Tamil Nadu crossed the 10,000 mark with 434 new cases, while Gujarat saw 340 more people testing positive to push its tally to 9,932.
With 25,922 cases, Maharashtra continued to top the country’s chart. It was followed by Gujarat (9,267) and Delhi (7,998).
Even as indications have emerged about greater relaxations in the fourth phase of the lock-down from Monday to contain economic costs of the pandemic, fear arises as the number of cases may increase rapidly.
Reports suggest that number of cases have reached 43 lakh globally. Countries which have the maximum positive cases include the US, Russia, UK, Spain, Italy, Brazil, France, Germany, Turkey, Iran, China and India.
