The validity of documents like DL, RC and permits extended till June, the road transport ministry took the decision in view of the Covid-19 transition

The government has extended the validity of car documents such as Driving License (DL), Registration Certificate (RC) and Permit etc. till June 30, 2021. This step has been taken in view of coronavirus infection. In the advisory sent to the states, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that the validity of the documents whose validity is going to expire on or after February 1, 2020, will be extended.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has said in a consultation to states that it is increasing the validity of fitness, permits, driving licenses, registrations and other documents, which cannot be extended due to lockdown and whose validity is due on February 1, 2020. Is over or will end on 31 March 2020.

Many people were unable to renew their documents due to the lockdown due to Covid-19. Advisory was first issued on March 30, 2020, to increase the validity of various documents. Then on June 9, August 24, and December 27, the validity was increased by issuing advisories. In the advisory issued on December 27, 2020, it was decided to extend the validity of all the documents to March 31, 2021. It was said in the consultation that the concerned authorities are advised to consider such documents valid till 30 June 2021.

The ministry said that the documents expiring since February 1, 2020, would be considered valid till June 30, 2021. Enforcement will take action keeping this in mind in any investigation so that people do not have to face inconvenience. This is probably the last advisory in this regard. The states have been asked to follow it completely.
