JEE Main, NEET 2020 fresh dates to be announced on May 5 (Tomorrow): HRD Minister

JEE Main, NEET 2020 Exam Date Update: The Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) will announce the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main fresh dates on May 5, 2020 (tomorrow). Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union HRD minister, will interact with students online to address their queries from 12 noon onwards. There are roughly 9 lakh candidates registered for JEE (Main) 2020 examinations and 16 lakh for medical entrance test NEET 2020.

Initially, the NEET UG exam 2020 was scheduled for May 3 while the JEE Main April session exam was scheduled to begin from the April 5, 7, 8, 11. However, both the examinations were postponed after the announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a nationwide lockdown till April 14 due to the global coronavirus outbreak. The lockdown was then extended till May 3 which has now again extended till May 17, pushing the exam dates even further.

Prior to this, HRD Minister has also communicated with the parents on April 27 in which more than 20 thousand parents participated the webinar. The issues with respect to online classes by students and other difficulties along with mental health issues were discussed.

Other entrance exams including JNU, NET, UGC and IGNOU PhD, ICAR exam, NCHM-G and management courses were also postponed due to nationwide lockdown. The exam updates by HRD will sure bring relief to lakhs of aspirants and will put uncertainty for the students.

JEE Main, the first phase of the IIT Joint Entrance Exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate courses in India top engineering institutes.
