The Medium is easily one of the most anticipated horror titles of 2020. Developed by Bloober Team, they revealed the game at Xbox Series X’s showcase event in May this year. Bloober Team has already developed horror video games such as Layers of Fear and Blair Witch. So, The group has the experience of working on scary games. Plus, The Medium is perhaps the only big-budget next-gen horror title coming out in 2020. Therefore, we have a lot of expectations from it.
The Medium: Release date & availability
The upcoming horror game has been under development for a long while. Previous reports suggested that the developers originally intended to release it for the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Due to some issues, however, they had to delay the game.
Last month, there were rumours that The Medium was going to be a launch title for the Xbox Series X/S consoles. Now, we know that the rumours were incorrect. The developers have recently revealed that the video game will launch on December 10, during the launch window of the next-gen Xbox consoles.
So far, The Medium looks to be a Microsoft exclusive title. Thus, it will only be available on the Xbox Series X/S consoles and PC, upon release. Unfortunately, it won’t come out on Xbox One or any other current-gen systems. Besides, the developers are yet to comment on whether it would be available on PS5 or other systems.
The Medium: Gameplay
The Medium is a third-person psychological horror video game. In it, players control Marianne, the titular Medium who possesses psychic abilities. Much of the gameplay mechanic is focused on exploration and puzzle-solving. Plus, the game features a unique concept known as dual reality. In essence, the dual reality concept allows the players to traverse both the physical and the spirit world simultaneously. The feature lies at the core of the game since players will have to rely on it to solve puzzles or find objects.
The Medium: Story
As mentioned before, the horror video game follows Marianne, a medium who can contact the spirits. Scary visions haunt her, and her goal is to find out the cause.
