Shocking news: Sridevi dies at 54 of heart attack in Dubai

Bollywood icon Sridevi, who performed in more than 300 movies died in Dubai while attending a family wedding. She had passed away yesterday of cardiac arrest.

All family members have confirmed the news that Sridevi had passed away while attending a family wedding in Dubai. She was with her husband Boney Kapoor as well as younger daughter Khushi. Her sudden death shocked Bollywood, and her fans and followers reached outside her Mumbai residence.

PM Narendra Modi tweeted his condolences and alleged ‘sad by the unfortunate demise of noted actor Sridevi. She was veteran of film industry whose extended career comprised many roles along with unforgettable performances. My thoughts are with her family as well as fans in this time of grief, may her soul rest in peace.’

Ram Nath Kovind also tweeted’ shock to hear the sad news of movie star Sridevi’s death. She left all her fans brokenhearted. Her performances in several movies remain an inspiration for other actors like in Moondram Pirai, English Vinglish and Lamhe. My condolences to her family members along with her close friends.’

 Unexpected  death of Sridevi  has left a crack in the Bollywood backdrop

Sridevi was born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan and has worked in numerous Telugu, Tamil Malayalam as well as Kannada movies prior to stepping into Bollywood. She initiated her acting career in 1960, but her acting in one of the Malayalam movie Poombata won her award as the best child actress. She made her Bollywood entry as a child artist in 1975 in Julie. Her foremost role as an adult was at the age of thirteen in Tamil movie Moondru Mudichu in 1976. She worked for many decades and known to be one of the biggest female stars India could ever have; she was also awarded Padma Shri in 2013.

Some her unforgettable movies comprise Sadma, Chandni, Chaalbazz, Himatwala, Nagina, Mr India and Tohfa.  She took a break of fifteen years after her movie Judaii and made a comeback in 2012 with English Vinglish. Sridevi’s  last movie in which she performed was in 2017 MOM.

Her best onscreen pairing was with Anil Kapoor, her real-life brother in law. Her most successful movies were produced by her husband, Boney Kapoor.  The last appearance of her can be seen in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero which would be releasing in December 2018.
