Steven Spielberg’s ET Reunites with Elliot for Holiday Season in Latest Sequel of “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”

Steven Spielberg’s 1982 classic American Sci-fi “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” soon to have its sequel. On November 28  Comcast Xfinity revealed the same in the form of an ad during Thanksgiving Parade airing on NBC. The four-minute-long ad teased the reunion of ET and Elliot after 37 years on the occasion of the festive season. But Comcast owned NBC broadcasted a two-minute-long version of the short film.

The media giant revealed the audiences’ expectations will be fulfilled with the latest sequel and this new movie will preserve the old classic’s charm. The movie is all set to earn the hearts and spread the holiday spirit all around.

Comcast also said that their goal is to connect family, friends and loved one via Xfinity and Sky technology, especially during this festive season. The film’s epic friendship of E.T. and Elliott sets a great example for everyone. Their special bond also plays a huge role in connecting Comcast’s consumer technology to life.

The new campaign for E.T. is set to start from January 5 but only a selected bunch of theatres will screen the trailer during the Thanksgiving weekend. The sequel will also have a 30 seconds long ad during the commercial break of NFL games on broadcasters including NBC, Fox, and CBS. NBC Universal’s Syfy will play the longer version of the same during the broadcast of “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”.

The initial film won 4 Academy Awards from a total of five nominations. The film was awarded for its sound, visual effects, sound editing, and best original soundtrack. The soul-stirring four-minute-long video stars Henry Thomas reprising his role as Elliot, who now is grown as a family. It shows the reunion of old friends, where E.T. is amazed by modern times technological leap and internet era.

“E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” was made on a tiny budget of only $10 million. Later the movie became a blockbuster hefting a huge amount of $360 million. It’s a no brainer that the movie had a long theatrical run and became a certified holiday film.

According to Variety, the sequel is set to hit the theatres on January 15, 2020.
