Gene Deitch, Tom and jerry director dies as 95 in Prague

Gene Deitch, an American Oscar-winning artist, illustrator, movie chief, and the maker has passed on. He was 95. His Czech distributor, Petr Himmel, told The Associated Press Deitch passed on out of the blue during the night from Thursday to Friday in his condo in Prague’s Little Quarter neighborhood. Deitch’s film Munro won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1960. He was likewise designated for a similar honour twice in 1964 for Here’s Nudnik and How to Avoid Friendship.
