The Cyberpunk 2077 hype has already taken over the gaming community. Now, it seems like the much-anticipated video game has crossed over to the handset market as well. The fact that the sci-fi RPG is getting its android smartphone stands testament to it. Furthermore, the famous android smartphone brand OnePlus is making the game-inspired handset.
Recently OnePlus had hosted an event where they showcased the latest OnePlus 8T smartphone. At the very same event, they surprisingly announced their partnership with CD Projekt Red, the developer of Cyberpunk 2077. Later, the news was confirmed by the game developer as well. The Chinese company further teased the new edition by giving a small glimpse of the phone’s screen.
However, The Cyberpunk 2077 version of the OnePlus 8T will be a limited edition. Therefore, it will not be available in the market for much longer, and will probably cost significantly more than the standard version of the phone. OnePlus has further stated that the latest edition will go on presale on November 4, just a few weeks ahead of the video game’s official release on November 19. Unfortunately, the limited edition OnePlus 8T will only be available in China. So, users outside China won’t have the option to buy it.
At the moment, we don’t know much about the upcoming version’s specifications. OnePlus CEO, Peter Lau, recently mentioned that more details about the phone would be available next month. However, we assume that the limited edition will have more than just superficial changes. Our guess is the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 edition will be much more gaming-oriented compared to the standard edition. Reportedly, the limited edition handset will boast the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus along with an enhanced RAM that will give a boost to the phone’s performance.
It’s not the first time OnePlus has tied up with other franchises to release a limited edition handset. The company has partnered with Marvel, Star Wars, McLaren in the past. However, CD Projekt Red is the first game developer OnePlus has partnered with to date.
