New Cyberpunk platformer game Ghostrunner now has a release date! Here’s all we know

Cyberpunk seems to be an in-fashion theme for quite a lot of video games this year. The most recent addition to this list is Studio One More Level’s new game Ghostrunner. The developer first announced the game during last year’s Gamescom event. A demo of the game was later released, and it collected immense plaudits from critics. Ghostrunner is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting projects to come out this year.

Ghostrunner: Release date

The developer recently revealed a new trailer during the PAX 2020 event. There, they announced the game would release on 27 October. It will be available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It doesn’t seem that the game would release on PS5 or Xbox Series X. However, we can’t wholly discard that possibility either. Ghostrunner is already available for pre-order on Steam.

Ghostrunner: Gameplay

Ghostrunner is a 3D action platformer game. It is an extremely fast-paced game made for hardcore gamers. The player controls an unnamed cyborg ninja who can do parkour moves, sprint, and kill opponents simultaneously. Since it’s an action game, combat takes center stage in the game. Ghostrunner has a one-hit combat mechanic, which means that it takes only one strike to kill enemies. Of course, the same goes for the game’s protagonist as well.

Furthermore, the game has multiple levels of riddled with enemies. The player needs to clear a level of all the enemies to proceed to the next one. To do this, the protagonist has his sword and several abilities at his disposal. The developer has further suggested that Ghostrunner won’t be an easy game. It focuses on learning from mistakes, so the player will likely lose numerous times before succeeding. The game will be an incredibly difficult game to master and will require a lot of time and effort from what we have seen.

Ghostrunner: Story

Ghostrunner takes place in a futuristic dystopia, where casteism, poverty, and violence run rampant. At the root of the world’s problems is the world’s ruler, The Keymaster. He lives in a giant tower that also serves as humanity’s last bastion. The player character has to climb the tower and kill the Keymaster to bring an end to his tyranny.
