Vicky Kaushal as Udham Singh: First Look

The most eligible bachelor of Bollywood, Vicky Kaushal never stops to amaze us. If you head to his Instagram handle, you will get to know the updates in his career and work. He recently posted the first look of his upcoming film which is the biopic of freedom fighter Udham Singh and internet just can’t keep calm.

Sardar Udham Singh assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, who was the Governor of Punjab when the Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place in 1919. Thousands of people died after British soldiers opened fire on a crowd of unarmed and peaceful protestors in Amritsar and the incident became a turning the point in the history of British rule in India.

The rising sun films will produce this film while the story is written by Riteish Shah and Shubendu Bhattacharya. The movie is the first collaboration of Vicky Kaushal with the director Sircar. Sircar has helmed movies like Vicky Donor (2012), Piku (2015) and October (2018). Sardar Udham Singh will have a 2020 release.

Vicky Kaushal tweeted, “Running my fingers thru the bullet holes at Jallianwala Baug, little did I know that 1 day I’d get a chance to bring alive the lesser known martyr, UDHAM SINGH. #SardarUdhamSingh @ShoojitSircar @ronnielahiri #SheelKumar @writish #ShubenduBhattacharya @filmsrisingsun @sardarudham

Udham Singh was hanged in July 1940 in London. Anu Kumar who is Scroll.in contributor writes about Udham Singh, “He was a man of many parts and occupations, including appearing as a movie extra in at least two Alexander Korda productions. He travelled widely in search of employment and meaning. Udham Singh’s life encapsulates, just as Bhagat Singh’s does in another way, how much a seminal event left an impressionable impact on a young man, and how reactions to such events become legends in their own way.”

Fans are really looking forward to this movie and everyone is predicting that the film will be successful just like URI.
