Doordarshan becomes the most-watched channel across India: re-telecasting Ramayan, Mahabharat and Shaktimaan

BARC reported the highest views on Doordarshan channel, as it reruns the shows like Ramayan, Mahabharat, Shaktiman, Buniyaad, Chanakya, Beyomkesh Bakshi, amid this lockdown.

Getting back all these nostalgic shows is surely a treat for the people amid this corona lockdown. Starting with Ramayan, Instagram page ‘ddnational’ posted informing the re-telecast of Ramayan, captioning ‘negative thinking can make life topsy-turvy ‘.


Ramayan is an Indian Hindu mythology series, that depicts how truth and greatness win over arrogance and evil. Ram, the eldest son of the king of Ayodhya was sent to exile for 14 years with his wife, Sita and brother, Laxman. There, Ravan, the king of Lanka, kidnaps Sita by deception. Coming to know this, Ram wages a war against Ravan. Saving Sita from Ravan, Ram kills Ravan.


Other than Ramayan, Doordarshan is also airing Mahabharat on DD Bharti.



Mahabharata is also an Indian Hindu mythological series, that depicts standing for what is right and raising voice for what is wrong. A dynastic struggle that begins for the throne of Hastinapur between Kauravas and Pandavas. Lord Krishna, supporting the Pandavas, recounts Gita to Arjun when he refuses to raise arms against his own family and gurus. 


Shaktimaan, our childhood superhero has also been aired. Since the dawn of mankind, humanity lost its peace in kalyug. Shaktimaan comes to save everyone from evil. He pledges to finish corruption and injustice prevailing in the society.
