Disney Plus will be launching in India on 29th March ahead of IPL 2020. It will launch as Hotstar Disney Plus. Chairman and CEO Bob Iger stated that the Disney Plus streaming services will be inaugurating in India via Hotstar, before IPL 2020. Hotstar is one of the best apps for the live streaming of shows, cricket matches, events and many other telecasts that are being run around. It has gathered about 26.5 million subscribers since November 2019.
Hotstar VIP and premium subscriptions will be folded to DISNEY PLUS HOTSTAR. Hotstar in itself setting records for the no.fo people watching live matches on Hotstar. It’s highest no.of viewers went in the ICC World Cup Semifinals between IND vs NZ. It saw a record of 25.3 million viewers on that day.
Iger said-” We are extremely happy to announce that we will be launching Disney+ in India through Hotstar services, that will start from 29th March. We will be uniting with Hotstar to launch it”.
Hotstar is one of the biggest platforms for live telecasting and shows of Mickey mouse house. It will render shows of Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse shows.
Without getting into many specifications, Bob Iger stated that-“Disney is planning to bring two products when the streaming service launches in India. There will be two major products that include the entire Disney Plus Hotstar library, while the other one includes premium shows and channels that will run smoothly and can be streamed live also”.
With the introduction of Disney Plus Hotstar library, it can change its plans and subscriptions as well. It will degrade it offers to some extent and are planning to give the best experiences of Mickey Mouse shows and other related shows. They will tie-up with some of the sports subscriptions as well, that will increase the viewers.
Hotstar will be aiming to double its subscription rates during IPL 2020 as this is one of the big events in India that are being watched by millions. At that time if the price hikes subscription then it will increase the business. Its price may rise up to 2000(INR) from 999(INR). Currently, Hotstar is offering at 999 for 365 days and is telecasting live sports, news, reality shows, series and many more.
Disney Plus will boost its viewer’s list and has an old collection of cartoon shows, Warner Bros, Showtime, Sony Pictures, HBO and ABC.
Disney Plus will serve up to 4K and four streams at a time can be watched.
It will be a great contest to watch between Amazon, Netflix and Disney Plus.
