Notebook Review : Pure and Passionate But Unique Love Story!

Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced under Salman Khan Films, film Notebook hit the screens on 29th March 2019. The film features newbies Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl in the lead roles. Pranutan is the granddaughter of legendary actress Nutan and daughter of Mohnish Bahl. The Notebook is the remake of 2014’s Thai film- Teacher’s Diary.

Kashmir is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The film begins in the same place. Kabir (Zaheer Iqbal) returns to his home town and joins the school his father once established. He is a replacement for Firdaus (Pranutan Bahl) who left the school a few days back. Kabir’s only guide and acquaintance at this school is a diary kept by Firdaus. He starts falling in love with Firdaus without meeting her which is quite unique in today’s love story trends in Bollywood. But he finds out that Firdaus is getting married in a few days. They share a few notes with the help of a diary kept by Firdaus and seen together in a frame very few times.

Notebook Cast Performance

Both the newcomers launched by Salman Khan don’t get time together on screen and that makes their romance unremarkable. But the view of Kashmir is so amazing, and the story is so engaging that unremarkable romance seems nothing. The movie is shot entirely in Kashmir by cinematographer Manoj Kumar Khatoi. He has made every frame beautiful.

In the time of Bollywood movies showing intense romance and intimate songs, this film stood out uniquely by showing the old school romance through notebook scribbling. Filmmakers literally took a risk by showing this as there were chances that nobody would have bought this. But the audience liked this movie and admired this unique story.

The children in this movie are so alluring that they make can melt your heart. They play an important role in Kabir and Firdaus’s love story. Songs in this movie are melodious and charming. One of the songs is another version of the old song Bumro Bumro which was of Preity Zinta and Hrithik Roshan. That song represents the loving relation between Kabir and the students.

Overall, the film has a unique story. We would love to give 4/5 to this film.
