The Union Public Service Commission was about to announce the fresh dates of the UPSC CSE phase 1 exam for the year 2020, but it was canceled at last moment. Why is the preliminary exam delayed?

The UPSC has declared the calendar of the UPSC CSE 2020-21 calendar in the beginning of the year. According to the table, the application process was completed in March 2020 for recruitment. But citing the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lock-down the examination has to be postponed. According to the officials, this decision was taken mainly due to two reasons, firstly to mark the candidates safe from the ongoing pandemic. secondly, the transportation was completely halted including the railways hence this decision was to move forward.
