MHT CET 2020 Exam: Application, Eligibility, Exam Date, Syllabus

MHT CET 2020: The official registration for The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test, conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, has begun on 7 January 2020. The test is conducted annually for admissions to courses in the fields of engineering and technology in more than three hundred colleges and universities under the jurisdiction of the government of Maharashtra. Admissions to Bachelor in Engineering/ Technology (B.E/B.Tech)/ Bachelor in Pharmacy (B.Pharm/Pharm.D), Agriculture and Allied Courses/ Fisheries Science/ Dairy Technology are sought through the exam. Interested candidates can visit the official site of the exam – cetcell.mahacet.org – and submit their online applications, or visit mhtcet2020.mahaonline.gov.in to do the same.

Eligibility Criteria for MHT CET 2020

All Indian nationals who have cleared HSC/12th standard or its equivalent examination with either Physics-Maths-Chemistry combination or Physics-Biology-Chemistry combination are eligible for the entrance examination. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in 2020 are also eligible for the entrance test. There is no age limit for the test.

As per the Department of Technical Education Maharashtra, 85% of the seats in private unaided engineering institutes in Maharashtra will be filled through MHT CET, while 15% of seats will be filled/reserved for All India Quota based on MHT CET.

MHT CET Format

The examination would be in a multiple-choice question format and have three papers – Physics, Chemistry and an option of either Mathematics or Biology. 90 minutes will be allotted for every paper, with 50 MCQ questions in each of them. Each question will carry one mark, whereas Maths will carry two marks per question. There will be no negative marking. The syllabus pertains to the Maharashtra Board syllabus of classes 11 and 12. However, only about 20% of the question would be from class 11 syllabus and close to 80% question would be from the syllabus of class 12.

Application Process for MHT CET 2020

To apply, candidates can visit the official website of MHT CET and register themselves if they do not have a pre-existing account. Registrations require the candidate’s email address, phone number, father’s name, mother’s name, gender, date of birth, username and password. A one-time-password would be needed to verify the account. After registration, candidates need to fill in their educational details, upload supporting documents, a digital photograph of themselves and their e-signature.  After filling in the necessary information, a registration fee is to be paid, following which the registration would be processed.

The registration fee for General Category students is rupees 800 and for Reserved Category students, as well as Persons-With-Disability, it is rupees 600. Candidates must note that the last date to submit the online applications is 29 February 2020, following which, an additional late application fee of rupees 500 would be levied on each application that would be submitted between 1 March to 7 March 2020.

After the Registration

After registering for the CET online, students would receive their examination identity cards between 5 April to 23 April 2020. The examination will be conducted on four days i.e. 13 April, 17 April 2020, 20 April and 23 April 2020, GroupWise shifts for which would be announced later. The results of MHT CET 2020 are estimated to be released on or before 30 June 2020.
