Kerala Is All Set To Hold Board Exam From March 17

The Board exams SSLC, HSC (class 10 and class 12) will be conducted from March 17 to March 30. Exams of all other classes have been revoked and students will be promoted.

The Kerala Government briefly informed today that they have decided to conduct a Board Exam for both the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from March 17 and will be continued till March 30. Due to the pandemic, the exam of all other classes has been canceled.

The decisions were taken in a high-level meeting hosted by the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here.

It is also added that the schools, colleges, institutions, professional colleges such as engineering, medical, agriculture, and fisheries will reopen from January.

“At the college level, UG and PG classes and classes at the universities of agriculture and fisheries would begin from the first week of January with a limited number of students by following safety protocol. It was also decided to begin classes of second year in medical colleges”, an official statement reads.

Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said as the board exams are near, various states have reopened their schools maintaining the COVID-19 safety norms.

He also added, “The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education has already released SOP/guideline for restarting of schools and colleges which deals with health and safety rules for reopening of schools and provide the safe environment to the staff, teacher, and student. Guide them about the social distancing aspects. We are all looking forward for a better tomorrow and we need to follow the rules and safety measures in order to break the coronavirus chain. Social distancing is the one of certain precautions that prevents virus to spread. Ministries are constantly in contact with states.

2020, the board exams were affected because of coronavirus, and it has been postponed for the concern of students’ safety. Several papers were held later in May. The results were announced in the month of June. To pass the exam, a candidate is required to get a minimum of 35% marks in each section or subject to pass the exam. For the science background students, consisting of theory and practical exams, the minimum marks is 20 out the 75 in theory paper while 15 marks is mandatory out of 25 in practical exams to pass the exam.
