JEE Main 2020: Trade Unions Requested HRD Minister to Postpone JEE exam in view of a countrywide strike

NEW DELHI: The central trade unions have requested the HRD minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to postpone the JEE exam in the view of a planned countrywide strike scheduled on January 8, 2020. The Joint All India Entrance Examination for admission to medical and engineering is scheduled on January 6-January 9, 2020. This year around 9.3 lakh (9,34,608) aspirants have applied for JEE main exams 2020.

JEE Main 2020 candidates may face problems in transport

On September 30, a united platform of 10 central trade unions had given a call for a countrywide strike over the government’s failure to respond to demands of workers. Transport sector employees are also participating in the strike which may lead to the dislocation of normal traffic movement. The students appearing in the examination on January 8 may face difficulties in commuting.

This year the JEE main exam will be conducted in 233 cities across India and 9 cities abroad. Earlier, the exam was conducted at 264 cities across the country.

JEE Main conducted by NTA is an important entrance exam for the students seeking admissions in engineering undergraduate programs at NITs, IITs, CFITs, IISc and other reputable institutes.

As for now, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not issued any notification or informed in any manner that JEE mains 2020 is postponed or cancelled.

JEE Main 2020 exam pattern

Total 25 questions (earlier 30) will be asked in the JEE exam out of which of 5 questions will be of a numerical type and 20 will be based on multiple-type questions. There will be equal weight age to physics, mathematics, and chemistry. Each question carries four marks. There will be no negative marking for numerical-type questions and for objective type questions, one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
