ISRO Online Courses 2020: The three online courses have been launched by the Indian Space Research Organization – ISRO. These initiatives have been taken for the students to provide reliable courses in a short period of time. The courses are designed by ISRO, can be taken by undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Theses online short-term courses are free of cost which means it would not charge any fee. The three courses include Geocomputation Information System, Geocomputation, and Geoweb Service. The duration of these courses will be about 7 to 12 days. Candidates can enrol in one or all courses as per their requirements.
ISRO has begun accepting applications. Indian Institute of Remote Sensing – IIRS a part of ISRO will be responsible for conducting these online courses. As per the ISRO update, interested candidates can register for one of the courses of their choice or can enrol for all the available courses.
ISRO Courses 2020: ISRO IIRS free courses
- The first program – Geographical Information System
The free ISRO course has been designed to teach students about Geographic Phenomena, Concepts, and Example. The course will start from September 28, 2020, to October 15, 2020. The learning period of the course is for four weeks.
The course includes the following topics:
- Data inputting
- Geographic information system
- Spatial analysis
- Introductory concepts and overview
- The second program – Basics of Geocomputation and Geoweb Service
It is an introductory course on Geocomputation. This course can be learned in 2 weeks that would start from October 19, 2020, to October 29, 2020
The course includes the following topics:
- Geocomputation technology and applications
- Introduction to online GIS
- Geo-web services and repositories
- ISRO geo-web service
- Programming concept for geo computation
- Introduction to Python and R
- The third course – Remote Sensing and GIS Application
This course teaches students about the concepts of applications of Remote Sensing, GIS applications for crop resource assessment, and geological studies. This course will start from November 2, 2020, November 20, 2020.
This course includes the following topic:
- Introduction to the applications of remote sensing
- Other geospatial technologies in natural resources management
- Development and governance
- Remote sensing
- GIS applications assessment and monitoring
- Remote sensing applications for geological studies
- Space – enable products and services for disaster management
According to ISRO, the certificate of the completion of the course will be provided to those students who complete at least 70% attendance and secure 40 % marks in the final examination. Students can access all the study material such as lecture slides, demonstrations, and others through the e-learning class platform of IIRS.
