Govt Revises SOP for Exams Ahead of NEET 2020

To avoid the overcrowding at examination centres, the authorities are better dealing to revise SOP for exams.

Authorities are concerned for the student’s health so that they decided to remove the isolation option for symptomatic students.

Authorities are concerned about planning to carry out the schedule in a staggered manner so as to avoid overcrowding at any examination venue on any day, the SOP stated.

The Union Health Minister on Thursday modifies the SOP for conducting exams during the pandemic, removing the provision the permitted symptomatic students to take the test in an isolated room. As per the source, asymptomatic candidates should be referred to the nearest health centre for their check and health sentiments and provide a chance to appear for the exam through other modes or educational institution shall make provision for taking the exam at a later date when the symptomatic student get well.

These students will be treated with an opportunity to give exam through other ways or universities shall arrange for them. As per the updated documents of SOP, suitable preparations and protections have been made for the aspirants, like proper sanitizations, allotment of face masks, thermal screening, hand sanitizer, soap, sodium hypochlorite solution, etc will be provided by the universities, institutions, or examination centres to the staff as well as students as per the requirements.

“Examinees and invigilators may also submit self-declaration about their health status at the time of entrance to the examination venues. Such a self-declaration form will be circulated at a time of the release of admit cards. If any examination functionary and examinee fails to meet the self-declaration criteria, they will not be allowed entry”, the SOP added.

“However, if a candidate is found to be symptomatic, the permission of denial, in this case, shall be granted as per the policies or guidelines which have been enunciated on the issue by the Examination Conducting Authorities”, the revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) said.

The guidelines of SOP related to the exam were issued on September, 2. NEET exam will be conducted on Sunday, 13 September 2020.
