National Test Abhyas offered 30 lakh practice lessons in 55 days for JEE and NEET aspirants

National Test Abhyas app developed by National Testing Agency (NTA) has now touched the milestone of delivering 30 lakh free online practice sessions in just 55 days, Union Human Resource Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted on Sunday (July 19, 2020).

The Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank launched the National Test Abhyas app on May 20, 2020 to provides free mock tests to the NEET and JEE aspirants. Due to the coronavirus lockdown, the students were unable to attend their coaching classes and this initiative by the government as a mobile app that helps the learners to prepare for their examinations.

According to recent reports, NEET 2020 will be held on September 13, 2020, and JEE Main exam will be held from September 1 to 6, 2020. The app can be downloaded from Google Play Store.

The National Test Abhyas app, within 3 days of its launch, was downloaded by over two lakh NEET and JEE aspirants of India and over 80,000 students in various states had appeared for mock tests. And soon after one month, the number of downloads rose to 10 lakh of its launch, while the mock tests were taken by over 17 lakh time for a total of 26 papers till June 21. The duration to attempt the questions in the app is of three hours. Aspirants can attempt it anytime during the day to check their preparation as per their convenience.

A total of 30,00,713 sessions have been delivered via this National Test Abhyas App and students have spent over 34 lakh hours solving the papers.

At the time of launch, the medium of language was in English, but after June 21 announcement, NTA has said that the app will also have questions in Hindi. While attempting questions, the app also directs students their weak and strong areas on the basis of the time spent on different sections and prepare accordingly. The app also keep records of scores with unbiased results handy.

The App was launched after the ‘brick and mortar’ TPCs, test practice centres of NTA were rendered dysfunctional due to the coronavirus lockdown. Sources in the ministry of human resource development said that the colleges and schools could adopt this model for summative assessment in case the lockdown gets extended.
