ICAI CA May 2020: ICAI, Institute of Chartered Accountants has cancelled the CA May exam that was scheduled to be conducted in July- August 2020- The May exam will now be merged with the November exams 2020. The candidates who have applied for the exams in July can check the website icai.org for official notification. This decision has been taken by the institute due to the severity of COVID19 in the country. Also to ensure the safety of the students and their well being.
The cancelled exams include foundation paper 1, intermediate course under the old and new scheme, final paper 5, IRM paper 1, INTT AT and DISA ET exams. In case of any queries, students can write at may2020exam@icai.in. ICAI Official notification: Click here
As per the notification, November CA Exams are scheduled to be held from November 1, “subject to conditions prevailing at the relevant time.”

Also, the Ministry of Home Affairs vide its Guidelines dated June 29, 2020, has directed the closure of all schools till July 31, 2020, which is the reason, it will be not possible for the CA exams to be conducted. Many institutes and schools have after the announcement have informed ICAI about their unwillingness to provide their campus for conducting CA May exams 2020. Therefore, a review meeting was called to analyze the situation.
Recently Institute of Chartered Accountants had asked the Supreme Court for more time to decide on the opt-out scheme (with a carryover of all benefits including exemptions and fee paid) and conducting the CA exams which were earlier announced for the students.
The students who have made an application for CA May 2020 Examinations will now have an option to change the group(s) even of their appearance and including the centre of Examinations while making a fresh application for CA November 2020 Examination.
