CBSE 10th and 12th board exams begin today, 30 lakh students to appear this year

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board exams for classes 10th and 12th begins today (February 15, 2020). All necessary arrangements have been made for the smooth and fair conduct of examinations. About 30 lakh students are appearing for CBSE Board exam this year were 18,89,878 candidates will appear for CBSE class 10 examinations and 12,06,893 candidates will appear for CBSE class 12 examinations.

The Secretary of CBSE, Anurag Tripathi, has written a letter to principals, parents and students asking them not to get stressed out during this period, along with the instructions and new initiatives are taken this year.

CBSE class 10 board exams will be held from February 15 to March 20, 2020, where 7,88,195 girls, 11,01,664 boys and 19 transgender will appear for the exam.

CBSE class 12 board exams will be held from February 15 to March 30, 2020, where 5,22,819 girls, 6,84,068 boys and 6 transgenders will appear for the exam.

With new initiatives taken this year in CBSE board examinations that includes admit card with ‘QR’ code and encrypted question papers have been increased to 50 (previously it was 19) which are password protected.

This year, for safe collection and delivery of materials, photo tagging of the custodian and centre superintendent at the exam centres has been added with the image of the exam material.

Students are advised to reach the exam centre at 9.45 am on the examination dates as the CBSE examination will start from 10 am.

In India, Class 12 exams will be conducted across 4983 centres and CBSE Class 10 board exams will be held at 5376 centres. The exams are beginning with skill-based subjects first which will end on February 20, 2020. 42 skill based subjects have been introduced for CBSE class 12 board exams and 17 skill-based subjects for CBSE class 10 board exams.

CBSE Board exam 2020: Important instructions:

  • Students may carry permitted stationery but in a transparent pouch only.
  • Students must not carry cell phones, wallets, chits or pieces of paper, purses, old question papers, or anything that draws attention to something suspicious.
  • Students should read the whole paper and keep the last 5 minutes in hand for rechecking their answer.
  • It is advisable to tally answers number with the question paper to ensure no question has been missed or number has not been noted incorrectly.
  • Students shall obey all instructions given in the examination hall and maintain discipline.
