AICTE Launches An Education Technology Platform Called “NEAT 2.0”

The new and updated version of the ‘NEAT’ brings together public and private initiative in education technology and online learning skill to improve the employability.

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ today, February 16, 2021, launched an updated version of the National  Education Alliance for Technology (NEAT)- NEAT 2.0. This initiative will bring both public and private partnerships between the government and education technology companies to promote better opportunities for employability.

“NAET is aimed at bringing online learning using artificial intelligence to a common platform and improving employability to youth of the country, Education Minister stated”

At the launching function, Pokhriyal said that till now our students have been running for the job after completing their education. He further added, “I am happy that students are now looking for innovation, creating start-ups and doing something new. He also focused on enabling linkage between the industry and academia for better result.”

This alliance will also look into the implementation of internship policy, internship portal and related matters portal of ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’, ‘One Student One Tree’, ‘Abhiyan Digital India’.

To make the education system more convenient and at a lower cost to all the common people, government has already launched some education platforms – ‘SWAYAM’ and MOOCs. These platforms are playing a pertinent role to bring knowledge and skill in every society.

This platform will serve as a milestone to increase employability among the youth of the country. This scheme will serve as a platform who do not have access to the right kind of platform to gain skills as per their talent.

As part of the NEAT 2.0 launch, as many as 48 companies have signed an agreement with AICTE. The technical education regulator, AICTE, will act as a facilitator and ensure that the services of these 48 companies are available free or at a lower price to the economically and socially backward students.

Registration under NEAT scheme

The first version of neat was announced in 2019, neat 1.0 registered over 2.5 lakh students on the platform for up-skilling themselves as per the industry requirements. Through NEAT various certificate level courses in areas like AI, Coding, Machine Learning, etc are being offered by private companies and for NEAT 2.0, 79 companies have been selected.

Neat CCO, Buddha Chandrasekhar said that through the neat platform, many Edtech companies are accessible on a common platform to have a wider reach across the country.

As per the government’s claims, this scheme is beneficial for the youth as it helps students to shift their interest from package culture to patent culture. It uses artificial intelligence to make the learning process more personalized and customized for the learner.
