Toyota Kirloskar unit starts production line of e-devices

 

Auto parts arm TKAP of automaker Toyota Kirloskar on Sunday announced the launch of its new electrified equipment production line ‘E-Drive’.

A release issued by Toyota Kirloskar informed about the inauguration of the E-drive. E-drive is an advanced automotive technology equipped with a high-efficiency motor and notified under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme of the government.

The E-drive plant at Bidadi, Karnataka has an annual capacity of 1.35 lakh equipment manufacturing. These parts will be used in manufacturing of electric vehicles.

This announcement by Toyota is a continuation of the Rs 4,800 crore e-vehicle promotion agreement signed with the Karnataka government. Under this investment plan, Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) and TKAP together will invest Rs 4,100 crore while another group company Toyota Industries Engine India will invest Rs 700 crore in Karnataka.

Along with this, the company also announced the expansion of the second phase of Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) where the emphasis will be on rural, talented and economically weaker youth to become world-class technicians.
