TCS Q1 Results: TCS profit up by 28.5 percent in first quarter, 20,409 new employees hired

The country’s largest IT company TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) has made a record of hiring in the March quarter. With the new hiring, the company’s workforce has increased to more than 5 lakh in the June quarter. As of 30 June 2021, the total number of employees of the company was 5,09058. In the June quarter alone, the company had hired 20,409 people.

The company on Thursday announced the financial results for the first quarter of its current financial year (2021-22). The profit of the company registered a growth of 28.5 percent on a yearly basis. The company’s profit for the quarter ended June stood at Rs 9,008 crore. The company’s income in the same quarter last year was Rs 38,322 crore. In the March 2021 quarter, the company’s net profit was Rs 9246 crore, while the income was Rs 43,705 crore. The board of the company has declared an interim dividend of Rs 7 per share. On Thursday, July 8, before the release of the first quarter results, TCS shares closed 0.5 percent down at Rs 3257.

Milind Lakkad, Chief HR Officer of the company said, “The months of April and May were extremely challenging for TCS employees. During the second wave of Covid-19, many employees lost their families and close friends. Standing with such employees taking care of the health of the employees is the main responsibility of the company and together we are taking meaningful steps towards this.”
