Swiggy Go: Swiggy launches pick-up and drop service, documents to the customer’s doorstep.

After Swiggy Stores, Swiggy has come up with Swiggy Go to expand its non-core food delivery business, which will now also be a part of the main app. Swiggy Go promises the customer to send lunch boxes from home to office, deliver documents or parcels, pick up and drop off laundry, and even get forgotten keys. All the services can be availed at a very affordable price. Uplifting the quality of life and ushering in a new era of convenience, backed by strong in-house technology, Swiggy Go is an instant pick up and drop service, and Bengaluru will be the first city to experience it.

By 2020, the company plans to expand Swiggy Go to over 300 cities and Swiggy Stores in all the major metros, according to the statement made by Sriharsha Majety, CEO, Swiggy. Also, this will play a prominent role in the company’s delivery partners access to an additional avenue for income by adding new stores every day, the statement added. The delivery partners who are engaged with Swiggy are in principle to principle basis and receive medical, insurance and accident coverage.

After announcements, this will definitely give a tough competition to its local rival Zomato. Swiggy is now concentrating on areas beyond food delivery whereas Zomato is trying to increase more control over the ins and outs of the food business.

Five-year-old Swiggy, founded by BITS- Pilani alumni Rahul Jaimini, Sriharsha Majety, and Nandan Reddy in 2014, backed by Tencent and Naspers, has now successfully connected consumers to over 1,30,000 restaurant partners across more than 325 cities, which started with only six delivery partners and 20 restaurants.

Even, after a tremendous success in Gurugram, the company plans to expand its on-demand delivery service, Swiggy Stores, to Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Swiggy Stores provides household items like groceries, flowers and medicines within an hour.

In Bengaluru, the company has tied up with more than 300 merchant-partners like Nilgiri’s, Organic World, Heads Up For Tails, Godrej Nature’s Basket, and Nandu’s Chicken, while in Hyderabad, the company has tied up with 200 merchant-partners like Yellow and Greens, Ratnadeep, Ghanshyam, Sneha Chicken, and 24 Organic Mantra.

Both the cities, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, will deliver from national partners namely, Healthkart, Apollo Pharmacy, FreshToHome, Easyday, Licious, Heritage Fresh, Spar, and Ferns N Petals.
