Nirmala Sitaraman to be the 41st most powerful woman in Forbes 2020.

In Forbes 2020 list of "The world's 100 most powerful women" along with Nirmala Sitaraman, Roshani Nadar Malhotra and Mazumdar-Shaw are included in the list.

India’s finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman has featured 2nd time in the world’s 100 powerful women Forbes 2020. She has ranked 41st on this year’s list, while she was 34th in 2019.

Along with Nirmala Sitaraman, HCL Corporation CEO and executive director Roshni Nadar Malhotra and Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw are also featured in the world’s 100 most powerful women Forbes for the year 2020.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has topped the list for 10 consecutive years. European Central Bank head Christine Lagarde secured 2nd position for a second time and US Vice President-elect Kamala Harris had 3 positions making her debut in the list. The 17th annual ‘Forbes Power List’ includes women from 30 countries.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra has been ranked 55th while Mazumdar-Shaw ranked 68th in the Forbes 2020 list of ‘The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’

Nirmala Sitaraman is the 1st woman to be a defence minister earlier and finance minister for full time in India and she is also a Minister of Corporate affairs.

Roshani Nadar Malhotra is the daughter of HCL founder Shiv Nadar and took over HCL chairperson’s responsibility from her father since July 2020 and also a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation. She is responsible for all strategic decisions for the USD 8.9 billion technology company.

Mazumdar-Shaw is the founder of India’s largest listed biopharmaceutical firm Biocon. She is India’s richest self-made woman.

“There are 10 heads of state, 38 CEOs and five entertainers among them. But where they differ in age, nationality and job description, they are united in the ways they have been using their platforms to address the unique challenges of 2020,” the business magazine said.

Forbes said, ” There are 10 heads of the state, 38 CEOs and five women from the entertainment sector. Even though the age, nationality and different profession, they all are united in the ways they using their platforms to meet the challenges of 2020.”

This year’s list includes the names of 17 new people, indicating that “women are playing a leading role in every aspect of society.”
