If you will need treatment after inoculating the Covid-19 vaccine, then the treatment will be covered under Health Insurance

The insurance sector regulator (IRDA) has said that it will be covered under health insurance coverage if hospitalized due to the reaction after vaccination of the Covid vaccine. However, it will be covered under the specific terms and conditions of the policy. For the past few days, some media reports were raising the question of whether it would be covered under the health insurance policy if one had to be hospitalized due to a reaction from the Covid vaccine. But Irda issued a statement on Thursday and gave an explanation in this matter.

The cost of the entire treatment will be covered

This means that if there will be any opposite reaction after vaccination of Covid-19, which requires hospitalization and active line treatment, then it will be covered under health insurance. It has been said that if any hospitalization is to be done for any reaction due to vaccination, then the cost of the entire treatment will be covered under health insurance.

The claim process will be similar to general health insurance

If a person is admitted to the hospital due to the reaction of the Covid vaccine, then he/she will have to claim the same way as done under the general health insurance policy. With this, IRDA has said that it has directed the insurance companies not to make any such changes in the existing health policy, which would increase the premium. This directive of IRDA will not only apply to health insurance but also to personal accident and travel insurance cover. Right now, two vaccines are being used in the country. One of them is Covishield of Oxford University and Covaxin of Bharat Biotech Limited.
