Government to change the rules in getting the LPG gas connection

If you want LPG Gas Cylinder at the government price, then it is important to have a gas connection in your name. A residential address is very important for new connections, although the Modi government is going to end this imperative. Apart from this, the need to stay connected with a dealership is also being considered to end.

Oil Secretary Tarun Kapoor said that the government is working on an action plan for the new LPG connection, according to which the identity certificate will be minimized. Apart from this, the imperative of residential proof will be removed. Apart from this, now LPG customers will have the facility of booking with three dealers simultaneously. The first delivery to the customer will be free. This will not disrupt the demand and supply process.

1 crore new connections will be distributed under the Ujjwala scheme

Tarun Kapoor said that the government has decided to give more than one crore free LPG connections in the next two years. A target has been set to deliver clean fuel to 100 percent of people in the country and work is going on in this direction. Kapoor said that in just four years, a record eight crore free LPG connections were provided in the homes of poor women, bringing the number of LPG users in the country to about 29 crores. In the Union Budget presented earlier this month, a plan was announced to provide more than one crore free LPG connections under the Prime Minister Ujjwala (PMUY) scheme.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala (PMUY) scheme

The Prime Minister Ujjwala scheme was launched in May 2016 by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry. Under this scheme, people living under the poverty line get Rs 1600 for every new gas connection. The stove and cylinder are filled on the loan. The poor family can also pay it in EMI. The administrative cost of 1600 rupees is found in it, the government pays for it.

Documents required for Ujjwala Yojana

To take advantage of this scheme, a BPL ration card, a verified BPL Certificate, Aadhaar or Voter ID card from a panchayat head or municipal chairman and a passport size photo is required. Tarun Kapoor says that we have made an initial estimate of those people, who are still left without LPG connection. This number is one crore. After the Ujjwala scheme, there are very few houses in India without LPG. We have about 29 crore houses with LPG connections. With one crore connections, we will be close to delivering LPG to 100 percent of the households.
