The world celebrates International Women’s Day on 8th March. A new short film called ‘Inspiration’ will release online on the same day and it will feature Tanushree Dutta. This short will speak about sexual harassment in Bollywood. This short film also stars Ishani Sharma and Taranjeet Kaur. This film is shot last year in Mumbai. It is directed by Atul Bhalla.
When asked about this film, Tanushree said, “It deals with the issue of willful exploitation of young newcomers in showbiz or any other field where they don’t have mentors or guidance.”
She was also asked if the stories that they will be showing are true, she replied, “It is a new format where reality meets fiction.”
Tanushree Dutta was approached by an online content platform called ‘ULLU’ and that’s how she came up with the idea to make this short film. The same platform has produced the film. She plays the role of guardian angel, who inspires girls to make the right decision about their lives. Also, she herself wrote the dialogues inspired by her insights and understanding of the matter.
Last year, Tanushree Dutta started the #MeToo movement in India. She held Nana Patekar responsible for sexual harassment on the set of her 2009 film, OK Horn Please. Nana Patekar denied all the charges against him. But after her one accusation, many Bollywood personalities like Sajid Khan, Vikas Bahl, Rajat Kapoor, Chetan Bhagat, Rajkumar Hirani, Alok Nath, Anu Malik and Kailash Kher were accused of sexual delinquency. The #MeToo movement gave chance to many women to share their stories and raise their voice in every way. Co-founder of Terribly Tine Tales, Chintan Ruparel also stepped down from his post out of this movement. Also, an actor from FilterCopy, Aniruddha Banerjee also faced the same.
Tanushree was invited as a guest speaker to Harvard Business School to speak on the same issue. The session was curated by journalist Pankaj Pachauri and a video clip of him introducing Tanushree Dutta to the audience is present online.
Currently, Tanushree Dutta is in New Jersy, United State of America. This after 9 years that she will be seen in a film.
