An event organiser in Moradabad (UP), Pramod Sharma has filed a complaint against Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha and four others for purportedly cheating. This case was registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections pertaining to cheating and criminal breach of trust, police informed.
An event organiser, Pramod Sharma, had alleged that he paid Rs 28 lakh to a company to invite Sonakshi Sinha for a prize distribution function in Delhi and according to him, Sonakshi confirmed her presence but did not come. He was going to spend 9 Lakh for their accommodation and travel. The amount of 28 Lakh is huge and According to sources, the payment was made through net banking.
“The investigating officer in the case had served a notice to Sonakshi Sinha and the four others, but after not getting a response an FIR was registered on Friday,” Ravindra Gaud added. He is Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Moradabad. He also told that the complaint had the copy of MoU signed by Sonakshi Sinha.
Sonakshi was supposed to be there for the event that happened on September 30 in 2018. She was going to distribute prizes to makeup artists. Pramod paid Rs 28 lakh for this event. The money was transferred to the accounts of her Mumbai-based connections.”
Pramod also told that Sonakshi released a promotional video. She also signed an MoU. On the day on which event was going to happen, seven flight tickets were booked from Mumbai to Delhi. On the same day, Sonakshi’s associates asked for the change in event timing. That was impossible for organisers. Then Sonakshi cancelled the trip. Pramod also told that he and his wife were assaulted at the event.
Four others who are involved in this are residents of Mumbai and they are Abhishek, Malvika Dhumil and Edgar. This case has been registered at Katghar police station.
Ajeet Singh who is Station House Officer at Katghar informed that the case was registered under section 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code. He also told that police have confirmed the allegations to be true. The investigation is still going on.
