Triton, a New Jersey-based electric vehicle company in the US, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to manufacture batteries. As per the Memorandum of Understanding between the two, BEL will be Triton’s exclusive manufacturing partner in India, while Triton will work to manufacture EV batteries and provide the necessary information and technical documents for these products.
For the energy storage system (ESS) requirements in India, BEL will fulfil the required material by acting as the main contractor and will support Triton Make in India as a technology partner, according to media reports. Giving, Triton EV Managing Director Himanshu Patel said, “We are excited to see the market response from India. Joining hands with BEL will definitely strengthen our commitment towards technology and clean energy driven EV and ESS market. Today the whole world respects India’s technical capabilities in various fields. We will try to make better products for ESS (energy storage system) and Evs.
According to reports, Triton has big plans in India in the coming years. The company recently launched its Triton N4 sedan model. According to the news, this car is set to enter the Indian market this year. Triton intends to invest $ 650 million to set up manufacturing facilities in India. Currently, a research and development unit of the company is set up in Pune and the company is in discussion to open its manufacturing plants and research centres in other states of India.
