Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to twitter to support CA (Chartered Accountancy) students who have been protesting against the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) demanding a re-evaluation of their answer sheets of CA Final, CA Intermediate and CA Foundation Exam held on May 2019. He said that the demand is justified and it should be supported by all political parties. He is the first political leader to come out in open support for protest by CA students.
Across India 12 Lakh CA students are fighting for their right to have their exam papers re-evaluated by ICAI.
Given the widespread reports of errors in the evaluation of answer sheets, this demand is justified & should be supported by all political parties.

Protest By CA Students
The protest was staged by 200 CA students outside the New Delhi office of the ICAI in ITO. The students claiming that the evaluators had deducted marks for no reason and marked correct answers as wrong. The protest at ICAI headquarters is also against the institute’s decision to not allow re-evaluation of answer books.
Last three days protest by thousands of CA students for re-evaluating their answersheet should have woken up ICAI and the Govt. Sadly it's not so. NSUI is with the agitating students. And demands urgent steps to allay their fears. #dearicaiplschange

What CA Students Said?
A student at the protest, Tarun Choudhary, told ANI that they are protesting against the moderation of the results where the students are not given marks even in the multiple-choice questions (MCQ). The whole moderation is done under Section 39 of the CA Regulation which gives Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) the right to manipulate marks in order to maintain their passing ratio.
The students and CA aspirants demand that ICAI should end its policy of ‘moderation’ of exam results held by it.

The protest gained huge attention on social media with the hashtag DearICAIplschange.
In response, the ICAI advised students are to not be carried away by such issues as the Institute is seized of their problems and will be taken into consideration at the appropriate forum by following due process. Also requested to call off the agitation and concentrate on their studies and preparation for the forthcoming examination.
