Story behind CIA EIT Interrogation Techniques

CIA one of the world’s most powerful intelligence organization, known for their high tech gadgets, spies, covert missions and torture!

The Senate state select on investigation is releasing a redacted version of its report of the CIA’s detention and interrogation program also known as the “CIA torture report”

CIA Interrogation Techniques Described

This report which is expected to show in detail about the CIA’s enhanced interrogation technique (EIT) which includes such dire methods that the human rights claim as torture.

What Happened?

It was in the year 2002 when the CIA initiated a program  to capture al Qaeda members and interrogate them in classified locations also known as ‘black sites’. Detainees were interrogated to prevent future attacks and eventually lead to the capture Osama Bin Laden. Some of the detainees in the list were Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi bin al Shibh who were the masterminds behind the 9/11 attacks

In the same year the CIA were secretly authorized by the justice department to the use of specific Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (EIT), to help CIA extract informations more effectively. These techniques included stress positions, waterboarding, prolonged sleep deprivation

However in the year 2006 when Bush was in power he made a public revelation about these black sites and passed an order for the detainees of these prisons to be transferred to Guantanamo Bay. Then President Obama announced the order on banning the use of EIT.

What happened later

In the year 2009 the senate select committee on intelligence began its review of the CIA’s detention and interrogation programme.

It was during one of these reviews that the senate reviewed more than 6.2 million pages of classified CIA documents from the CIA’s own secure facility with its own network and are said to have accessed the senate investigators computer system

In the report the senate confirmed that the use of EIT did not lead to the capture of Osama Bin Laden. Moreover they claimed in the report that it was the source through other detainees and not the ones under the CIA who helped in finding the al Qaeda leader.

Whats the big Issue?

The senate made public on 2009 a secret 2004 CIA Inspector general report which showed incidents of times when the CIA went even beyond the authorized EIT, like using of power drill, mock executions and many other

The CIA are also said to have misled the white house about how good the EIT was helping in acquiring information
